Phone Calls
Free Phone Calls For Everyone!
The past few years have seen a multitude of companies offering free phone call services on the internet, the biggest of these was skype. However, in order to use these free services it was necessary to have some type of computer with a sound card, a microphone, software and the necessary connection from your computer to the internet. Once the user has all the necessary equipment he is able to make free international phone call via the internet, this is refered to as a free call from pc to phone.
It is also possible to purchase digital phone handsets and do away with the need for computer hardware and still free call via internet phone. Alternatively, a user can attach analogue-to-digital adaptors to existing phones and make a free phone call over the internet.
In most cases you could only talk to another person who also need to have a computer, the sound card, a microphone and necessary software and internet connected at the other end. For many people this is a major drawback either because they do not have the correct equipment or they do not have enough technical knowledge to use the equipment.
This type of Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) service was and still is being promoted as a killer technology that will accelerate the death of traditional telephone companies. The old type telephone system and handsets do not have a place in the new digital world they say. But they are ignoring the millions of people over the world with ‘old style’ handsets, millions of offices with analogue exchange equipment, millions of people without computers, millions who are unable to participate in the digital world because they lack the right equipment or knowledge, that was until now…..
In the past few months new types of telephony services has been launched which will provide services for everyone with old style analogue equipment. Now traditional phones users, users without computer equipment, users who cannot use computer software will have the ability to make and receive free phone calls anywhere in the world, no one need be excluded, the potential for this service is far more inclusive than the VoIP services being rolled out onto the Internet by a lot of communication companies.
One such new service was launced in February 2006 by a company called JAJAH Inc, their company information states that;
“JAJAH is dedicated to bringing the world vastly improved telephony solutions at a fraction of the traditional price. Whenever possible, we want to provide basic phone for free - and we truly believe it’s possible. The JAJAH web-activated-telephony service is very simple to use, to make a local free phone call or indeed a free international phone call, the caller goes to a website and enters two phone numbers;
-
the telephone number of the caller (landline or mobile)

the telephone number of the receiver (landline or mobile)
moments later the caller’s phone will ring and the caller answers, seconds later the receiver’s phone will ring, when he lifts his handset a connection between the two parties is established, simple and straightforward. Calls can even be scheduled to take place at a pre-defined time.
On some mobile phones JAJAH Mobile is absolutely seamless. You simply enter the number you wish to call, press call and… well that’s it really. Imagine, same behavior but the call is free, or up to 95% cheaper
Users registered in the JAJAH network can make free phone calls within designated international zones, otherwise a very low fee is charged, calls can be to landlines and mobile phones (also known as cell phones)
JAJAH users can also make online conference calls for up to 10 users and they are able to send SMS messges to many networks.
Another service available to JAJAH business users is a toll free call-me button which can be add to their web pages and allow their customers to instantly be in contact with someone in the business via 1-800 calling option.
JAJAH is showing the rest of the telecommunication industry that you don’t have to abandon old technology in order to use new technology, they can be complimentary to one each other and at the same time help to reduce costs.
